Lent Isn't Meant to be Easy
Advent, Christmas, and then the Epiphany,
I know what to do,
These events are easy for me.
But at Lent I have to give up,
Something that I like a lot,
The choice is hard,
Thank God for chocolate.
John Clayton
She Knew Exactly Where she was Headed
She had lead a full life with children and a number of grand children. She was still sharp as a tack mentally, but her 85-year-old body was winding down quickly. Her husband of 60 years had recently died peacefully.
That’s when she called me and left the message that she was going off to see her mother, that she was really looking forward to it, and that I shouldn’t worry about her. Two weeks later she did join her mother, who of course had been dead for decades, and I am sure they were glad to see each other.
She had never been a particularly religious person, but I know in her heart she knew that there was life after death ahead for her, and she was ready for that joy.
